Aurora 110

A surfy arc. A stable feel.

Aurora 110 is a freeride ski for the days you head into soft natural snow. The width adds float, and the long, gentle rises in the tip and tail help the ski turn with the snow. Thanks to the tapered ends, you can change your line to suit the terrain. Alongside its surfy feel, it has support for heavier soft snow too, so you don’t need to save Aurora only for the lightest powder days.

How to choose your ski length

Start with your own height and where you ski. Then decide whether you value easy turning or stability at speed more.

On piste
A piste ski is usually about 5–15 cm shorter than you.
On and off piste
An all-mountain ski is often slightly shorter than you or about your height.
Soft natural snow
A freeride ski is often about your height or slightly longer.

Between two sizes?

The shorter option is usually easier to handle and turn. The longer one usually adds stability at speed and float in soft snow.

Example: if you are 175 cm tall, the general starting range for a piste ski is about 160–170 cm.

These are general starting points. Your weight, skiing style and the ski’s construction also matter. Even experienced skiers don’t need to pick the longest size.

Aurora 110

Aurora’s designer starts from at least the skier’s own height. Weight and the float you want also affect the final choice.

About the poles

The pole's shaft is made from Alu 7075 – F56 grade aluminum. We chose this material because it offers the best properties for a touring pole. The advantages of Alu 7075 aluminum are its light weight and durability. The material is also fully recyclable.

PUSU Aurora 110 -sukset viistosta, vaalea kuvioitu puuviilu ja kaartuvat päät.

Width floats, the profile steers.

Aurora’s strengths come through in soft natural snow. The 110 mm waist adds float, the long rocker rises guide the ski and the fairly stiff construction gives it support. Together they make a soft-snow turn surfy yet stable.

You don’t need endless soft snow for Aurora’s character to show. It is made for skiers who head into natural snow even when there is more on offer than untouched powder.

PUSU Aurora 110 -suksien kaartuvat päät ja kuvioitu puuviilu matalasta kulmasta.

Predictable steering in soft snow.

Rocker is the curved rise of the ski’s tip or tail. Aurora has about 40 cm of it in the tip and about 25 cm in the tail. The rises are long and gentle, so the steering stays predictable.

Underfoot the ski is flat: the flat profile has no separate camber. The shape is designed to work in a soft-snow turn without the ski first having to flex a lot.

Soft snow can also be heavy and uneven. The fairly stiff construction prevents too much flex, and torsional stiffness gives support when carving on groomed snow too. The tapered ends make it easier to release the ski from the edge and keep the ends from hooking in breakable crust.

Ash in the core, flame birch on the surface.

Aurora’s wood core is ash. It gives the construction strength and liveliness, but the feel of the ski comes from the whole construction and shape working together.

We make Aurora by hand in our workshop in Laukaa and finish it with flame birch veneer. The wavy grain and tones of the wood make every pair unique, so the pattern on your pair may differ from the product photos.

Aurora’s design combines the characters of the earlier Wanaka and Abisko models: freer freeride and classic directional skiing.

The rocker measurements are approximate. The turning radius describes the ski’s sidecut; in soft snow, turning is guided above all by the profile, the shape and the flex.

When to choose another model?

Aurora is at its best in soft natural snow. You feel the width when changing edges: a 110 mm ski moves from edge to edge more slowly than a narrower model. If you spend much of the day on groomed pistes, the narrower Loska 100 or Aava 95 suits your use better. Aava is also the natural comparison when climbing performance weighs heavily in your choice.
